Zelensky supports Belarusians’ European aspirations

May 9, Pozirk. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has backed Belarusians’ European aspirations at a joint press conference with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in Kyiv.
Zelensky said his country met all the conditions “so that the negotiating framework could be approved in June and negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union could really begin.”
“It is also important that European unity really works for other nations that deserve to be in the European Union, so that they too implement their candidate status,” Zelensky said, as quoted by European Pravda. “Europe is also the Balkans and Moldova, and there will definitely be a Europe Day for Georgia and a Europe Day for Belarus.”
Valer Kavaleŭski, an opposition envoy from the United Transitional Cabinet, thanked Zelensky for “echoing strategic goal of the democratic Belarus to join European Union – a signal for other EU leaders to add their voices.”
“It is important to have a clear vision for the future and to act now. Belarus and Ukraine have the same European and democratic aspirations. We have the same Russian threat to our existence as states, as societies, as nations. When we act together, we will prevail,” Kavaleŭski said on X.
