Belarusian agents blackmail Lithuanian travelers – intelligence

June 28, BPN. An intelligence agency in Vilnius has accused Belarusian secret services of using blackmail and psychological pressure during interviews with Lithuanian citizens traveling to Belarus, according to Delfi.

Belarusian agents check travelers’ laptops and mobiles at border checkpoints, and also ask them about their political views, the State Security Department said yesterday.

Sometimes they ban Lithuanians from entering the country and then promise to lift the ban in exchange for cooperation, it said.

The report comes after the Lithuanian foreign ministry reiterated its call for citizens to avoid travel to Belarus or Russia. It warned travelers that Belarusian secret services can copy information from their laptops and mobiles to blackmail them and their families into cooperating.
