Polish president: Wagner Group in Belarus a negative signal

June 27, BPN. Polish President Andrzej Duda has said that a safe haven for Wagner Group in Belarus is a challenge to NATO’s eastern flank, adding that he wants more security “in our part of Europe.”

“The relocation of the de facto Russian forces, Wagner Group and its head Yevgeny Prigozhin, to Belarus is underway,” he said in The Hague ahead of consultations on the upcoming NATO summit.

“These are very negative signals for us, which we want to present to our allies,” he added, as quoted by Polsat.

June 23, Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin called for an armed rebellion to oust the Russian defense minister.

He later halted the mutiny as a result of agreements reached with Alaksandr Łukašenka and other officials. Vladimir Putin let him go to Belarus, and his presence in the country was confirmed by the Belarusian strongman today.
