Rubel drops against dollar amid brief uncertainty in Russia
June 26, BPN. The rubel has weakened against the US and Chinese currencies at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange (BCSE), following reports of a short-lived mutiny in Russia.
It plunged to 3.0077 per dollar and 4.1574 per 10 yuan.
At the same time, it climbed to 3.2836 per euro and 3.5475 per 100 Russian rubles.
Last week (June 19-23), the rubel depreciated 0.13 percent against the dollar, 1.07 percent against the euro and 0.04 percent against the Russian ruble, but gained 1.13 percent against the Chinese currency.
The Belarusian currency lost 6.8 percent of its value against the dollar in the first five months.
