Homiel radio journalists jailed for sharing opposition content – rights group

May 6, BPN. Police arrested radio editor Siarhiej Krasnabarod, sound engineer Arciom Vasilkoŭ and presenters Žana Minina and Anastasja Hrycenka on May 5 at a Homiel-based radio station, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.

Most likely, they worked for Homiel FM which is a part of the state-run Homiel’s regional TV and radio company.

A local court tried all four for sharing content that authorities deem “extremist.”

Krasnabarod was jailed for 15 days and is currently held in a pre-trial detention center. Human rights defenders do not know the outcome of other trials.
