Opposition leader marks fourth anniversary of Kalinoŭski Regiment

March 9, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja took to X to mark the fourth anniversary of the establishment of the Belarusian Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment (KKR), which is fighting Russia alongside Ukrainian forces.
“We honor those who gave their lives in this struggle for a free Ukraine and a free Belarus,” the politician said. “Our nations share the same enemy and the same fight for freedom.”
The founding day of the KKR has already entered Belarus’s new history, marking a legacy of responsibility and dignity, Cichanoŭskaja noted on Telegram.
“Belarusian volunteers are our modern heroes,” she stressed. “They faced criminals without fear, going where there was risk and even death. They acted because their conscience would not allow them to remain indifferent.”
“This day will enter history textbooks as a reminder: even when Belarus was ruled by a dictatorship, Belarusians still chose freedom,” she added.
In March 2022, shortly after Moscow staged an offensive on Kyiv, Belarusian volunteers formed the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Battalion, which soon joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and grew into a regiment.
Alaksandar Łukašenka’s regime declared the unit a terrorist and extremist group.
