Łukašenka leaves for Russia for three-day visit

January 27, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has left for St. Petersburg where he will stay for at least three days, his press office and the Kremlin said.

The Belarusian ruler will participate in events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi blockade. St. Petersburg will also host the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus on January 29, where Łukašenka is expected to discuss integration and approve the draft document outlining measures to implement the Union State Treaty for 2024-2026.

The Belarusian ruler’s agenda includes discussions with Russian officials of a coordinated foreign policy, a joint industrial policy and railway infrastructure improvements.

Łukašenka will also hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on Belarusian-Russian cooperation and international issues.

A few days ago, Łukašenka told Union State Secretary Dmitry Mezentsev that he was looking forward to a “serious and principled” discussion of union programs.
