Kačanava: universities need to solve logistics issues for foreign students
July 24, BPN. The head of Belarus’ upper house of National Assembly has said that foreign students want to study in Belarusian universities and that the country’s education is prestigious.
According to official statistics, however, the number of foreign students in Belarus decreased by 16 percent in the 2021-22 academic year.
Natalla Kačanava, chairperson of the Council of the Republic, made the remarks after meeting with rectors of higher educational institutions. She said some logistical issues need to be solved quickly to accommodate the demand from foreigners.
Kačanava also urged university administrators to follow decisions of Alaksandar Łukašenka and the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, a meeting of delegates from pro-government organizations.
