Senior diplomat calls on world to condemn Western sanctions on Belarusian potash
July 19, BPN. A Belarusian deputy foreign minister has called on the world’s diplomats to “purposefully condemn” a US and EU ban on the transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers to Africa, Latin America and Asia, saying that every country has the right to receive food, fertilizers, energy and technology “at an accessible and reasonable price.”
In his opinion, this will help reduce the gap in development between the “golden billion” and the rest of humanity, as well as prevent many conflicts, the Belarusian foreign ministry said today.
“The world should be free from unilateral coercive measures,” Juryj Ambrazievič told the UN Social and Economic Council’s sustainable development forum.
The United States and the European Union have sanctioned Belarusian potash in response to human rights violations and political repression in the country.
