Lithuania reopens Medininkai border checkpoint
July 9, BPN. Lithuania has restored traffic at the Medininkai border crossing after the Belarusian side agreed to readmit the 38-year-old illegal migrant, the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service reported.
Late on July 7, the Pakistani man, traveling by bus from Minsk to Vilnius, was denied entry to Lithuania after presenting forged identification papers at the border. Belarusian border authorities said documents were genuine, but refused to let the man back into Belarus.
Lithuania suspended traffic at the Medininkai border crossing at 1 pm on July 8 as the situation remained unresolved.
Belarusian border authorities did not confirm the readmission of the migrant following earlier accusations of their Lithuanian counterparts of blackmail.
