Belarusian NGO added to Russia’s undesirable organizations list
July 7, BPN. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has declared a Lithuania-based Belarusian NGO “undesirable” for being part of a network that “discredits” Russia’s foreign and defense policies.
It said that the Barys Zvozskaŭ Human Rights House and other organizations established by Norway’s Human Rights House Foundation seek to undermine the country’s territorial integrity, destabilize its social and political situation and promote a coup d’état.
“The NGOs’ provocative information agenda is aimed at isolating Russia politically and economically in the international arena,” it said.
The Barys Zvozskaŭ Human Rights House was founded in 2006 to reinforce Belarusian rights groups.
Co-founder Barys Zvozskaŭ, a prominent human rights lawyer, died six years later.
