EU sanctions Belarusian defense chairman, railway head

June 23, BPN. The European Union has imposed sanctions on Dźmitryj Pantus, chairman of the State Defense Industry Committee, and Uładzimir Marozaŭ, head of Belarusian Railway, as part of the 11th package of sanctions for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

It said companies subordinate to the committee were involved in the production and export of weapons for the Russian army, according to the union’s official journal. Meanwhile, the railway company helped Russia deploy and move troops for the incursion.

The EU has already imposed sanctions on Minsk for its crackdown on dissent and its role in the invasion. The measures include travel bans and asset freezes on officials and entities, as well as trade and financial restrictions.
