Motor oil, airline tickets, flowers see sharpest price increase in Belarus in August

September 11, Pozirk. Motor oil, airline tickets and fresh-cut flowers recorded the sharpest price increases last month among services and non-seasonal goods in Belarus, according to Pozirk’s analysis of the National Statistical Committee’s (Biełstat) data.

Motor oil prices rose by 13.4 percent; airline tickets, by 6.4 percent and flowers, by nearly 5 percent.

Prices of non-food products rose by 0.5 percent in Belarus in August. Auto parts (4.8 percent), nail polish (4.6 percent) and face cream (4.5 percent) were among the top five products with the sharpest price increases, along with motor oil and flowers.

Foreign language and computer courses saw increases among the top five services, with prices climbing 4 and 3.7 percent, respectively. Movie ticket prices rose by 3.2 percent with dance, singing, acting and sewing courses posting a 2.5-percent price increase.

Consumer prices in Belarus rose 3.1 percent in January-August.
