Belarus’ elite troops practice improvised drone defense

July 9, Pozirk. A drill held by the 38th Brest Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade focused on defending equipment against unmanned aerial vehicles using improvised means, the defense ministry’s press office reports.

Commanding officers and their deputies taking part in the exercise were briefed on convoy operations and on how to react to potential threats, said Alaksiej Jałfimaŭ, deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces.

The training also focused on improving units’ ability to respond quickly to emerging threats along the route, he added.

Drill participants familiarized themselves with vehicle-mounted electronic warfare systems designed to jam enemy drones, Jałfimaŭ noted.

The Belarusian army is regularly conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.
