Łukašenka praises Trump, signals readiness to normalize US-Belarus relations

July 4, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has congratulated US President Donald Trump on Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the United States, praising the country’s achievements and expressing hope for stronger bilateral relations, his press office reports.
Łukašenka acknowledged Trump’s efforts to serve the country and expressed readiness to work together toward normalizing Belarusian-American relations.
The politician also offered to support Trump’s efforts to “make the planet a safer place” for future generations.
Yesterday, Trump congratulated Belarusians on Independence Day. According to Łukašenka’s press office, his message also expressed hope for a future meeting with the Belarusian ruler.
Last year, Łukašenka’s message to Trump called for the restoration of positive dynamics of interstate contacts.
During Joe Biden’s presidency in 2021-2024, Łukašenka sent his Independence Day greetings only to the American people, in line with his usual approach toward nations he regards as “unfriendly.”
