Belarus records all-time high temperature: 39.6C

June 29, Pozirk. Belarus has recorded its highest-ever temperature in the 145-year history of meteorological observations using accurate measurement instruments.

The new record of 39.6C was registered in Pinsk at around 2:20 p.m. on June 29. The previous record of 38.9C was reported in Homiel on August 8, 2010.

Monday’s temperature in Pinsk was higher than the new all-time record for June (37.6C) set on Sunday in Brest.

Pinsk saw its previous highest temperature on record (36.3C) nearly 121 years ago, on August 5, 1905.

Meanwhile, temperatures in eastern Belarus on June 29 were 10C to 12C lower.

Final data will be available later in the day. According to forecasts, temperatures will decline slightly on June 30.
