Cichanoŭskaja meets with UK prime minister in London (Updated)

June 3, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja met with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in London on June 2 to discuss support for her country’s pro-democracy movement, according to the Belarusian politician’s press office.

After the meeting, the exiled Belarusian politician praised the UK’s principled stance on Belarus.

The UK government reported that the prime minister reiterated the UK’s steadfast support for the use of sanctions to apply ongoing pressure to the regime.
Cichanoŭskaja also updated on her recent visit to Kyiv, and the leaders discussed their unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, the UK government said.
Cichanoŭskaja previously met with Starmer in March 2023, when his Labor Party was in opposition, and again in July 2024 after he became prime minister.
