Belarus’, Indonesia’s companies agree on potential deals worth $400 million

May 16, Pozirk. Representatives of Belarusian and Indonesian companies signed five memorandums of understanding covering potential deals of about $400 million on May 15 in Minsk, Indonesia’s Antara reports.
The agreements were formalized during the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental joint commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation, with the participation of Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesian coordinating minister for economic affairs, and Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktar Karankievič.
Pupuk Indonesia, Indonesia’s largest fertilizer producer, reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding with the Niedra Niežyn mining company from the Minsk region, while the joint trading company Indonesia Belarus Jaya, specializing in the supply of fertilizers, agricultural and industrial products, signed an agreement with Minsk Dairy Plant No 1.
Hartarto stressed that the agreements reached by the joint commission must be translated into specific measures that directly enhance economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus.
Karankievič reportedly reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to expanding cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in industry, agriculture and technology as well as boosting business contacts.
The meeting in Minsk also focused on trade, investments, industry, agriculture and food security, forestry, the banking sector, healthcare, education, science and technology, culture, sports and tourism.
Alaksandar Łukašenka hosted Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at his residence in Minsk in July 2025. Later, Belarusian Ambassador to Indonesia Raman Ramanoŭski said that Belarus is fully capable of contributing significantly to Indonesian food security.
Two years ago, bilateral trade soared by 44 percent to $128.4 million from $89.1 million reported in 2023, according to the Indonesian foreign ministry’s data. Fertilizers accounted for more than 78 percent of Belarusian goods sold to Indonesia, according to the Observatory of Economic Complexity, which accumulates data on global foreign trade.
