Cichanoŭskaja: we demand full political amnesty

March 29, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja called for full amnesty for all designated political prisoners in Belarus in her address to the Freedom Day rally participants yesterday in Warsaw.
“We are taking to the streets to restore justice and put an end to the terror. We demand a full political amnesty: so that everyone can return home and all victims [of the ruling regime] receive proper compensation,” the politician stressed.
“I believe we will see them free as early as this year,” Cichanoŭskaja said, referring to efforts by Washington to secure the liberation of all jailed Belarusian dissidents. “They will be freed because we are fighting for them, and I trust our American friends will see this through to the end.”
Alaksandar Łukašenka and his officials are turning Belarus “into a North Korea in the heart of Europe,” but people inside the country are looking forward to reclaiming their country, the politician noted.
About 1,000 people took part in a rally in central Warsaw yesterday.
