Released prisoners include prominent rights defenders, journalists

March 19, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja’s office has named some of the 250 political prisoners released by Belarus’ authoritarian leader today.

Those freed include journalist Kaciaryna Bachvałava (Andrejeva), Kiryl Kaziej, Alaksandar Kazlanka, Dźmitryj Kubareŭ, Mikałaj Kulašoŭ, Nasta Łojka, Siarhiej Mavšuk, Alaksiej Mielnikaŭ, Eduard Palčys, Kim Samusienka, Pavieł Špietny, Valancin Stefanovič of the Viasna Human Rights Center, Dzianis Žalezka and Mikita Załataroŭ.

Viasna has confirmed the release of its activist Marfa Rabkova.

The office said that it would not disclose the names of the other released prisoners without their permission.
