Georgia denies entry to popular Belarusian dissident actor

August 14, Pozirk. Georgian authorities have not allowed Belarusian actor Alaksandar Ždanovič, aka Malavanyč, into the country, human rights activist Raman Kiślak told Pozirk.
Ždanovič planned to perform his show “He Flew and Promised to Return” in Batumi on August 15.
Today, he arrived at the Kutaisi airport, only to be denied entry “for other reasons.”
The phrase typically conceals the unwillingness of Georgian Dream, the ruling party of the pro-Russian oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, to allow the opponents of the Russian and Belarusian regimes or the critics of the party itself into the country.
Ždanovič had lived in Georgia for more than two years after fleeing political persecution in Belarus. In the summer of 2024, he moved to Poland.
