Belarusian government dissolves bandy federation

June 26, Pozirk. The Viciebsk Regional Court has upheld a request by the Ministry of Justice to dissolve the Belarusian Bandy Federation, Viasna Viciebsk reported.
Judge Viktar Bystroŭ made the ruling on June 19.
Three days earlier, authorities planned to dissolve eight sports associations. In all cases, the requests were filed by the Ministry of Justice or its branches.
The Belarusian Bandy Federation was founded in 2022 in the town of Baravucha, Viciebsk region, to promote the winter sport.
According to the Lawtrend human rights organization, the Belarusian government disbanded at least 1,665 associations between August 2020 and late May 2024, including NGOs and trade unions.
