Cash in circulation up 7.3 percent since January – central bank
May 15, Pozirk. Belarus’ cash in circulation (M0) rose by 7.3 percent to 10.2 billion rubels (about $3.1 billion at the current exchange rate) on May 1 since January 1, the National Bank said.
Transferable deposits fell by 4.3 percent to 24.5 billion rubels, while broad money supply (M3) rose by 2.8 percent to 77.8 billion rubels and rubel money supply (M2) by 0.8 percent to 40.6 billion rubel.
Siarhiej Kalečyc, first deputy head of the National Bank, said last year that broad money supply growth will be kept in the range of 12 to 16 percent to spur businesses and keep inflation risks in check.
The rubel monetary base is slated to rise between 10 and 12 percent in 2024.
