December 8, Pozirk. The United States Agency for International Development will soon open a special office in Lithuania to support Belarusians, USAID deputy assistant administrator Mark Simakovsky told Belarusian journalists.

USAID has been supporting the Belarusian people for the past 20 years and continues to support Belarusian democratic forces, civil society and independent media, Simakovsky said.

It helps Belarusian democratic forces maintain contact with the Belarusian people inside and outside Belarus, he added.

According to him, USAID has been running its Belarusian activities from Lithuania since officials in Minsk forced the agency to leave in October 2021.
