Over 3,000 Ukrainian children forcibly taken to Belarus – Ukraine’s UN envoy
July 27, BPN. Ukrainian children from territories occupied by Russia are “subjected to anti-Ukrainian indoctrination,” Ukrainian Ambassador to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya told the July 26 meeting of the UN Security Council.
The propaganda aims to incite hatred toward Ukraine, its language, culture and history, Ukrinform reported citing the diplomat.
Since February 2022, over 3,000 Ukrainian children have been taken to Belarus against their will from the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the pretext of recuperation, Kyslytsya said.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor issued arrest warrants against Vladimir Putin and his children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, seeking to bring them to account for the alleged deportations of children from Ukraine.
On July 18, the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee urged the ICC to issue a similar arrest warrant for Alaskandar Łukašenka. The European Parliament will take a vote on the Committee’s report in September.
