Opposition politician in Paris discusses efforts to counter Russia
June 27, BPN. The opposition’s foreign secretary, Valeryj Kavaleŭski, advocated for “a more active position on the crisis” in Belarus during his three-day visit to Paris, the transition cabinet’s press office reported.
The politician had several top-level meetings at the French foreign ministry, participated in a briefing at the defense ministry, met with French MPs and spoke about Belarus at the European Council on Foreign Relations.
Kavaleŭski focused on efforts to counter Russia’s interference and nuclear deployment in Belarus. He also urged French officials to raise the Belarusian issue and take steps to resolve it at the UN Security Council and General Assembly as well as at NATO, G7 and European Union summits.
He politician noted the need for supporting Belarusian independent media through cooperation with the largest French media outlets and promoting the European future for Belarus.
Among other issues, he also discussed the situation of exiled Belarusians in France.
