Opposition politician Seviaryniec faces tougher prison conditions

June 22, BPN. Judge Alaksandr Tarakanaŭ of the Škłoŭ District Court, Mahiloŭ region, has ruled to transfer prominent opposition politician Pavieł Seviaryniec from the local penal colony to a prison, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.

Authorities arrested Seviaryniec in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election and sentenced him to seven years in prison on charges widely seen as politically motivated.

In March 2022, the interior ministry included Seviaryniec in its list of individuals involved in terrorist activities.
