Polish prosecutors send Belarus spy case to court

June 21, BPN. Prosecutors in Poland have referred a case against two arrested Belarusians to court, charging them with military espionage, rmf24.pl reported.

Investigators said the men arrived in Poland to work as drivers, but in reality spied on the Polish Armed Forces in the west of the country. They also allegedly monitored civilian companies involved in transport and logistics. The suspects may face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Poland has arrested at least 20 people on suspicion of cooperating with Russian or Belarusian intelligence services since Russia invaded Ukraine last year, according to Polish officials.

Three months ago, the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service said it arrested a foreign individual who worked for a Belarusian secret service. He allegedly spied on key facilities, including the ones linked to the armed forces.
