Kyiv says Łukašenka tries to sabotage fight against Russia with nuclear bluff
June 17, BPN. Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak has said Alaksandr Łukašenka is on a mission to stop Ukraine’s counteroffensive and undermine western support for its military.
In an interview with Channel 24, he commented on Łukašenka’s remarks about the nuclear weapons that Russia was deploying in Belarus. Podolyak emphasized that the Belarusian strongman will have no control over them. In his view, Łukašenka is not an actor in golbal politics and war, and it’s pointless to pay attention to his bellicose statements.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said part of his nuclear arsenal had already been deployed in Belarus. Previously, Łukašenka said the weapons could be used to repel aggression and will be “managed by us here.” But Moscow insisted that it will retain control of the arsenal.
According to Podolyak, Łukašenka realizes that if the Russian regime is defeated, he will face major street protests. “The leader of the country who is raping his society will get a lot of questions after Russia, his only support network, falls,” he said.
