Belarus industrial output up 4.1 percent in January-May

June 17, BPN. The Belstat statistics service says industrial production in Belarus rose 4.1 percent in the first five months of 2023 compared with the same period last year, reaching 73.2 billion rubels (over $28 billion).

The increase was driven by growth in mining (3.8 percent), manufacturing (5.2 percent) and water supply and waste collection (0.1 percent). Electricity, gas, steam and hot water production fell 2.4 percent.

Industrial production grew 1.8 percent in the first quarter of 2023 year-over-year.

The Eurasian Economic Union reported a 0.5 percent drop in its industrial output in January-March 2023 compared with the same period in 2022.
