Stoltenberg: no change in NATO’s nuclear posture over Russian nukes

June 16, BPN. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has told reporters in Brussels that the bloc sees no change in Russian nuclear deployments requiring a change in its nuclear posture.

This comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin told an economic forum in St Petersburg that part of the nuclear arsenal intended for Belarus had already been deployed in the country.

“We take it seriously when Russia has announced they will deploy nuclear weapons to Belarus. We have seen some preparations going on,” he said, according to an audio on NATO’s website. “This is part of nuclear messaging… that we have seen over some time.”

“We will monitor closely what they are doing and remain vigilant,” he added.
