Łukašenka approves military-technical cooperation agreement with Russia

May 12, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka signed a law ratifying an intergovernmental agreement with Russia on military-technical cooperation until 2025, says a document published on the National Legal Internet Portal on May 12.

Both houses of the Belarusian National Assembly approved it in mid-April.

The agreement covers supplies of military products, as well as the abolition of Russian bans and restrictions on foreign goods and services “for the needs of national defense and state security,” the House of Representatives said.

It also regulates supplies of military products “in the interests of the power structures of Belarus and Russia” as well as research to develop new and upgrade existing weapons and military equipment, it noted.

The governments of both countries will support authorized companies to speed up procedures for obtaining permits and simplify rules for the movement of “military products,” the document says.

The previous intergovernmental agreement on military-technical cooperation between Belarus and Russia was signed back in 2013 for the period until 2020. There is no information on any similar agreements concluded between 2020 and 2023.
