Blogger Klimovič who died in prison to be buried on May 12

May 10, BPN. Mikałaj Klimovič will lie in state outside his home in Pinsk, Brest region, on May 12.

The opposition activist and blogger will be buried in a local cemetery at 14 a.m. that day, a source has told BPN.

Klimovič had a heart condition that required constant medical care. He feared that any prison term would be fatal for him.

He died serving a one-year sentence for insulting Alaksandr Łukašenka with an online caricature.

Proceeds towards the 61-year-old’s funeral were raised by civil society. Belarusian human rights defenders demanded that his death be thoroughly investigated.
