Information ministry warns mobile operator against broadcasting Setanta Sports
April 13, BPN. The Belarusian Ministry of Information has warned mobile operator A1 against broadcasting Setanta Sports TV channels on its VOKA online platform.
A1 was instructed to “eliminate the violation according to procedure established by law.”
On April 7, the information ministry said it was revoking Setanta Sports’ broadcasting license. It affects television channels Setanta Sport 1 and Setanta Sport 2.
The decision was taken by an information security commission under the aegis of the Security Council. It took effect on April 12.
Setanta Sports told BPN that the termination of the license may be connected with its position on the war in Ukraine.
On March 4, Setanta Sports Ukraine announced that it would not broadcast the Dubai tennis championships’ final between Russians Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev.
“We make sure that our viewers enjoy watching tournaments and are inspired by the true values of sport. Glory to Ukraine!” Setanta Sports Ukraine said in a statement.
Setanta Sports is an international television company with offices in Dublin, Ireland and Tbilisi, Georgia.
