A Polack resident who refused to repaint his white-red-white house hospitalized
December 24. Anatol Kachančyk, the arrested resident of Polack, who refused to repaint his white-red-white house in the village of Aliošča (Polack district of the Viciebsk region) and declared a dry hunger strike in detention, was hospitalized.
According to Viasna Human Rights Center, Kachančyk started having seizures and his pressure rose. Now he plans to stop his hunger strike.
Kachančyk was detained on December 20 at the police station, where he was summoned. Subsequently, he was found guilty under Art. 24.23 of the Administrative Code (violation of the established procedure for holding meetings, rallies, street processions, demonstrations, and picketing) and was arrested for 25 days.
In November 2021, Kachančyk was arrested for 15 days under Art. 19.11 of the Administrative Code (dissemination of extremist information). After his release, the man told human rights activists that he was threatened with a criminal case during his arrest should he fail to repaint the house.
