October 25, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has met visiting Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh “in an informal setting” in Minsk today, calling for “very intensive, normal cooperation,” the Belarusian ruler’s press office reports.

“We trade, but you must agree that our current trade volume is simply ridiculous. Our talks therefore should lay a solid foundation for Belarusian-Mongolian friendship and relations. We will strive to be reliable friends to you,” Łukašenka said.

“Tomorrow, in a more formal setting, we will discuss the current state and future of our relations,” he added, proposing to revive cooperation through two or three projects that are important to both Belarus and Mongolia.

On Monday, Łukašenka and Khürelsükh are expected to review the implementation of the agreements reached during Łukašenka’s visit to Mongolia two years ago and identify key areas for boosting Belarusian-Mongolian ties.

Two-way trade amounted to $43.6 million in 2021 and consisted mostly of Belarusian exports, according to the Belarusian embassy in Mongolia. Minsk has not disclosed more recent data.
