MPs supporting Belarus’ pro-democracy forces meet in London

June 4, Pozirk. Meetings of the International Alliance of Parliamentary Groups For a Democratic Belarus in Berlin, Rome, Paris and London show that interest in Belarus is consistent within Europe and not limited to neighboring Lithuania and Poland, Anatol Labiedźka has told Pozirk.
The politician serves as adviser on constitutional reform and parliamentary cooperation to Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja. Both are currently visiting London, where the parliamentary alliance is meeting for the fourth time.
“The Belarusian issue is on the agenda of the parliaments of leading European countries,” Labiedźka stressed, noting that today’s event focused on exchanging best practices regarding the work of the For a Democratic Belarus groups within various parliaments.
Labiedźka said he presented a “positive alternative” for Belarus, a vision of the country’s future without Alaksandar Łukašenka and Russian President Vladimir Putin and the reforms needed to achieve it.
MPs from Croatia, Czechia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Spain, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, as well as members of the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, reportedly participated in the meeting along with Cichanoŭskaja.
