Belarus reports warmest May 6 in 120 years in Maryina Horka

May 7, Pozirk. Belarus recorded an all-time temperature high and 27 local temperature records on May 6, according to data from Biełhidramiet.
Overall, 56 percent of weather stations reported new highs that day. In Maryina Horka, the temperature reached 28.2 degrees Celsius, beating the previous daily record (28C) set in 1906 and marking the warmest May 6 there in 120 years.
Temperatures at four weather stations surpassed records set more than 70 years ago, in 1954: Vasilevičy (30.2C versus 27.9C), Homiel (29.9C versus 27.7C), Mahiloŭ (28.8C versus 27.1C) and Minsk (27.3C versus 26.7C).
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Lelčycy at 30.6C, surpassing the previous national May 6 record of 29.4C set in Brest in 1954.
From May 3 to 6, Belarusian weather stations recorded 57 daily temperature records.
