Russian intelligence accuses West of preparing for “color revolution” in Belarus in 2030

February 9, Pozirk. Western countries are planning to conduct a “thorough assessment” of Belarusian opposition figures to use them in “subversive activities” in the future, Russia’s TASS reports, citing a statement by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
“Western ‘democratizers’ are once again targeting Belarus,” the document said. The SVR claimed that NGOs based in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States are accumulating forces for another attempt at destabilizing Belarus and changing its constitutional order by 2030, when the next presidential election is expected to take place.
The “color revolution scenario” allegedly features the search for “new liberal activists in Belarusian society,” since exiled Belarusian opposition led by Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja “demonstrated their complete inability to influence processes in their home country,” according to the document.
The SVR also accused the West of intentions to weaken the ties between Minsk and Moscow within the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
