Łukašenka said to be positive about Trump’s Board of Peace, but seeks broader global powers

January 19, Pozirk. US President Donald Trump has invited Alaksandar Łukašenka to act as a founder of the “Board of Peace” for Gaza, Rusłan Varankoŭ, spokesman for the Belarusian foreign ministry, said on January 19.
“We appreciate that the American side sees Belarus, as stated directly in the text of the appeal, as a state ready to assume the noble responsibility of building lasting peace, lead by the power of example and invest in a safe and prosperous future for coming generations,” he said, noting that Minsk views the invitation as recognition of Łukašenka’s merits and authority.
The Belarusian ruler has taken the invitation “positively,” he added.
“Our position is that we are ready to take part in the activities of the Board of Peace, taking into account and hoping that this organization will expand its framework and authority far beyond the mandate proposed in the initiative. This would enable it to participate actively in global processes to resolve international conflicts and, ultimately, to contribute to building a new security architecture, actively promoted by Belarus over the past few years,” he said.
The Board of Peace is part of Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Israel–Hamas war and is expected to temporarily oversee the administration of Gaza.
The exact structure of the board, which will also manage Gaza’s reconstruction, remains unclear, and members are still being invited.
