Cichanoŭskaja praises Poland’s solidarity with Belarusian people

January 14, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja thanked Poland for its support of Belarusians as she addressed a reception in Warsaw on January 13, hosted by Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
The traditional event, launched in 2022, gathered more than 150 Belarusian activists, artists and journalists.
“Belarusians have never been strangers to Poles, while Poland has always been close to Belarusians,” the politician said. “You are not just our allies and neighbours – you are an example. It is in Poland’s image that I see a new Belarus — strong, sovereign, caring for its citizens and not serving a foreign empire.”
“I am confident that we, Belarusians, will walk our path to freedom, as Poland once did,” Cichanoŭskaja added. “Of course, it seems to us that this path is long and difficult, but look how many former political prisoners there are among us today. This means that anything is possible and that we must continue our struggle and fight for the liberation of everyone.”
Belarusians are on the “long road to independence and sovereignty” and Poland will “never abandon” them on this journey, Nawrocki said on X after the event.
