Information ministry bans 52 books from distribution in Belarus
December 29, Pozirk. Belarus’ information ministry has banned an additional 52 books from distribution in the country, labeling them harmful to national interests.
Among the banned titles is Беларуская Народная Рэспубліка 1918–1920 гг.: ля вытокаў беларускай дзяржаўнасці (The Belarusian People’s Republic, 1918–1920: At the Cradle of Belarusian Statehood), a monograph by Polish historian Dr. Dorota Michaluk, published in 2025.
The ministry has also prohibited several books aimed at children and teenagers, as well as The Pear Field by Georgian writer and filmmaker Nana Ekvtimishvili, several works by Russian author Vladimir Sorokin, and books related to drugs. These include titles by William Burroughs, Nicholas Blincoe, Alexander Shulgin and Robert Forte.
The ministry’s list of books banned from distribution now contains 225 titles.
