Łukašenka appoints new CEOs to “salvage” major state-owned companies

October 13, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has confirmed the appointment of new CEOs at three major Belarusian industrial enterprises, instructing them to “salvage” the companies, according to state-run media reports.
Andrej Sojka will head the tire manufacturer Biełšyna, Aleh Kurylin will take charge of the Mahiloŭchimvałakno chemical plant, and Vital Šeleh will lead the Homselmaš agricultural machinery producer.
Sojka previously worked at the Biełaruśkalij potash giant, where he oversaw social policy matters. Kurylin managed Mahiloŭchimvałakno’s commercial operations, while Šeleh served as director of the Minsk Gear Plant.
In other reshuffles approved by Łukašenka, Nadzieja Łazarevič, former first deputy chairwoman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, will replace Taćciana Łunhina as head of the Biełłehpram light industry concern. Łunhina, in turn, has been appointed CEO of the Minsk-based textile producer Kamvol.
Łukašenka also appointed Dzianis Duk, a member of the Central Election Commission, as rector of the Academy of Public Administration, and Siarhiej Ščarbakoŭ as deputy chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences.
Alaksandar Kamendant has been confirmed as first deputy chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. Additionally, Łukašenka approved five deputy ministers, along with four new heads of district executive committees in the Homiel region and three in the Hrodna region.
