Ukraine, Russia exchange POWs via Belarus

August 14, Pozirk. Ukraine and Russia have once again swapped prisoners of war in Belarus.
“We are bringing Ukrainians home to Ukraine,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a Facebook post. “A new exchange, 84 people. These include both military personnel and civilians. Almost all of them need medical care and significant rehabilitation.”
According to Zelensky, the released civilians include individuals who have been held by the Russians since 2014, 2016 and 2017. Among the military are defenders of Mariupol.
The Ukrainian leader thanked the team involved in this effort and Abu Dhabi. “Thank you, the UAE, for your assistance in this exchange.”
The president also acknowledged the soldiers who “replenish Ukraine’s exchange fund” week after week on the front lines. “The bravery and effectiveness of our units on the front lines also means we can bring our people home. There will be more exchanges,” he stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the exchanged Russian servicemen are currently receiving psychological and medical assistance in Belarus.
The released servicemen will be transported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation at Ministry of Defense medical facilities, the report said.
