Trees fall as storm hits Homiel region

June 3, Pozirk. Heavy rain and strong wind gusting 15-20 meters per second have toppled 20 trees in the Homiel region, the emergencies ministry reported.
A dozen trees fell in the regional capital, six in the Rečyca district and one each in the Jelsk and Lelčycy districts.
In the regional capital, four trees fell on cars. The officials also reported roof damage to three buildings in the Homiel and Lelčycy districts.
No injuries were attributed directly to the storm. However, three people died in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in the Žłobin district. The interior ministry, reporting the accident, has advised motorists to drive with extra caution in severe weather.
