\n Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka, during his talks with Vladimir Putin in Novo-Ogarevo, Moscow Region, on February 17 offered Russia an array of goods and services.<\/span><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t The Belarusian leader said that his country could build Sukhoi Su-25 ground attack aircraft and advertised Belarus\u2019 microchip industry.\n<\/p>\n

Su-25<\/h2>\n

\n\t \u201cAs I was informed by the government, they are ready for the production of the Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft that have proved to be efficient in Ukraine. We are even ready to produce them in Belarus if the Russian Federation provides a little bit of technological support,\u201d BelTA<\/span> quoted Aleksandr Lukashenko as saying.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t Actually, in the official video he said \u201cthe MiG-25 aircraft, as far as I remember.\u201d However, he was apparently referring to the Su-25 because MiG-25 is a supersonic interceptor that had been taken out of service a long time ago, a Belarusian defense analyst told The Viewer on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter freely.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t The Su-25 (Western reporting name Frogfoot) is widely used by Russian and Ukrainian forces. It is quite effective on the battlefield being a major threat for main battle tanks.\n<\/p>\n

Orsha facility<\/h2>\n

\n\t \u201cSince Afghanistan [the Soviet-Afghanistan war] many modifications have been made to the Su-25. Its armor is thick enough \u2013 Grach [its Russian name] is protected from hundreds of hits by large-caliber bullets and fragments \u2013 it can be fitted with state-of-the-art electronic equipment, armament, avionics, etc.,\u201d the source said.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t Russia upgraded the Su-25 to the Su-25SM version. It may be short of production facilities for the aircraft, the source said. It could supply kits to Belarus\u2019 Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant to assemble the Su-25 there, the analyst added, noting that the two other facilities \u2013 the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant and the 558th<\/sup> Aircraft Repair Plant \u2013 are quite busy at present.\n<\/p>\n

Microchips, satellite imaging technologies<\/h2>\n

\n\t \u0141uka\u0161enka also advertised Belarus\u2019 microchip industry, noting, however, that Belarusian-made products are bigger than state-of-the-art analogues.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t AAT Intehral, a Minsk-based microchip manufacturer, has been criticized as being 15 years outdated.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t Intehral and Pielenh, another Belarusian firm, used to manufacture semiconductors for Soviet satellites, the source said.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t Basically, the Russians may place orders with ATT Pielenh to manufacture infrared optical sensors as Russia seeks to upgrade its satellites to close the gap on the United States, the analyst said.”\n<\/p>\n

Belarusian parts said to be used in Kinzhal and Buk<\/h2>\n

\n\t Russia\u2019s Iskander and Kinzhal missile systems are said to contain Belarusian-made electronic components, the source said. Belarusian-made components are certainly used in the manufacture of the S-300 and Buk missile systems.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t ATT Planar-Co manufactures equipment for assembling microchips. It is linked up to ATT Intehral.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \u201cBigger and thicker Belarusian-made microchips are said to have an advantage because they better withstand the stresses during combat. Belarus manufactures military-class microchips, which are used in armored vehicles and can withstand strain caused by the impact of a projectile,\u201d the source said.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t As Russia grapples with international sanctions, \u0141uka\u0161enka has pounced on the opportunity to secure orders, funding, investment and subsidies from Moscow. His country\u2019s heavy economic and political dependence on its eastern neighbor poses a threat to its sovereignty.
