August 6, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Warsaw would not ban the entry of Belarus-registered vehicles because it differentiates between ordinary Belarusians and Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and his officials, Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna has told PolskieRadio24<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comment referred to the ban introduced by Lithuania on July 18. Vilnius cited the European Union Council regulation 2024\/1865 of June 29, noting that the move was coordinated with Latvia and Estonia which used the same regulation to ban entry of vehicles with Belarusian license plates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanctions should target Belarusian and Russian regimes, rather than people who desire to live in a democratic country and be part of the Western community, Szejna stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland has leverage in negotiations with Minsk and has already managed to reduce illegal border crossings, the official said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warsaw may close all border crossings with Belarus in response to a new escalation of the illegal migration crisis that has been ongoing since 2021, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two weeks ago, Szejna outlined specific steps for Belarus to ease tensions with Poland, which include halting \u201chybrid attacks at the border,\u201d releasing jailed Poles and extraditing a suspect in the murder of Mateusz Sitek, a Polish serviceman stabbed at the Belarusian-Polish border several weeks ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
