July 22, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> French authorities have banned several Russian and Belarusian journalists from the 2024 Paris Olympics scheduled to begin on July 26, Le Journal du Dimanche<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to G\u00e9rald Darmanin, the interior minister, the reporters’ questionnaires were rejected because of concerns about espionage and cybercrime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just under a hundred questionnaires were turned down on suspicion of undercover activities, Darmanin said, as cited by the Sputnik<\/em> news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that correspondents from several other countries were also denied the right to cover the Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paris applied the “precautionary principle” to prevent foreigners from gaining access to computer networks and launching a cyberattack, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, the National Olympic Committee accredited journalists from four Belarusian state media outlets, such as Bie\u0142<\/em>TA<\/em>, Sportivnaya Panorama<\/em>, Belarus 5<\/em> and SB. Belarus Segodnya<\/em>. Pressball<\/em>, founded by the Football Federation of Belarus, and the press office of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association also received accreditations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian State Television and Radio Company – under international sanctions – will not broadcast official events and competitions, media reported on July 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seventeen individual neutral athletes from Belarus have been allowed to compete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
