July 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Support for Belarus is an investment in Europe’s security and has to be provided in time, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has told Rzeczpospolita<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Now we are struggling for survival and do not have the resources to achieve big victories,” she said, noting that international interest in Belarus has subsided lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The West lacks determination in handling the Belarusian issue, the politician added, noting the International Criminal Court’s reluctance to issue an arrest warrant for Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka despite evidence of his involvement in the forced displacement of Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus risks being left as a gift to Vladimir Putin after the end of the war in Ukraine, the politician said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are doing everything to prevent this from happening, but the time is running out. \u0141uka\u0161enka is selling our independence to Russia step by step,” she stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian opposition maintains contact with the new government in Warsaw even though the new Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk may have been too busy for a meeting, Cichano\u016dskaja noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition leader visited Poland from July 13 to 15. Prior to the visit, she met Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
