July 6, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian government has added 19 people to its extremism register, bringing the total to 4,194.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their charges ranged from inciting hatred and supporting extremism to insulting the head of state and discrediting Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior ministry named six people who had been branded as political prisoners by the human rights community. They are Arciom Antona\u016d, Alena Dubro\u016dskaja, Arciom Nasanovi\u010d, Alaksiej Hierman, \u0141arysa Katovi\u010d and Hierman Lebiedzie\u016d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other inmates are Vieranika \u017darkina, Siarhiej Suchavara\u016d, Andrej Vielikasielec, U\u0142adzimir Michajlenka, Pavie\u0142 Ivano\u016d, D\u017amitryj Bian\u010duk and Maryna B\u0142ankie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry also named several people whose criminal records have not yet been expunged: Hleb Ivano\u016d, Illa Hry\u0161ko\u016d, Alaksandar Du\u0161kievi\u010d, Ja\u016dhien Siza\u016d, Anastasija Farbier and Kaciaryna Rad\u017ako.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government monitors the financial transactions of registered “extremists” to prevent the financing of opposition activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They may not engage in teaching, publishing, public service, or the handling of firearms for five years after completing their sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
